Summertime Fun!

Our summer has been fabulous and it has gone so much quicker than we ever imagined it would! Kathryn has enjoyed spending a week at Nana and Papa's, getting to play with Aunt Kayann, going to the beach with Grandmommy and Granddaddy, swimming in the pool at Aunt Jan and Uncle Tim's, attending Uncle Aaron and Aunt Katie's Wedding, attending Amanda's Wedding, shopping, and so much more!!! Below are some pictures of our summer fun!!!

4 Months Old!!!

It's hard to imagine that Kathryn is now 4 month's old!!! She is an amazing little girl that God so perfectly put together! Adam and I enjoy each new day that she wakes up talking in her crib and that BIG smile she gives us when we go to get her up in the mornings! She has accomplished so much since our last post:
1. She has mastered rolling over
2. She grabs objects and holds them in both hands, sometimes switching the toy from one hand to the other
3. She is regularly talking (well... making lots of sounds)
4. She has grabbed her feet a couple of times
5. She has begun reaching for either Adam or me
6. She gives sweet little hugs when you pick her up
7. She gives sweet little kisses
8. She laughs and giggles when she likes something
9. She has begun to stand unsupported for a few seconds
10. She can hold a 4oz bottle on her own
11. She has begun to suck her thumb at different points














She is such a joy and we love watching her grow and develop! She loves both her Nana and Grandmommy and below are a couple pictures of her with them!
















Kathryn has become somewhat fascinated with Walker and enjoys watching his every move. Below is a picture of him allowing her to pet him and even pull his fur! :-)















Kathryn is now eating rice cereal and fruits; yes... it is a little early, but our pediatrician suggested it to help with her reflux. Below are a couple pictures of her first time being spoon fed.

10 Weeks

It's hard to believe that Kathryn is now 10 weeks old (2.5 months)!!! She has grown and developed so much since her arrival in March. We survived the shots last Thursday... yes she cried and no I didn't cry (I had to be the big girl for once in my life!). I was determined to stay strong and it helped knowing I was doing what was best for her! She was a little more tired and fussy for a couple of days, but other than that it went extremely well.

Kathryn now weighs 10lbs. 9oz and is 21.5 inches long. She is sleeping anywhere from 5-7 hours stretches at night now (which I am thrilled about)!!! She has met and even exceeded all her 2 month milestones... smiles responsively; follows objects across mid-line; responds to parent's face and voice; coos and vocalizes reciprocally; lifts head, neck, and upper chest with support of forearms on stomach; has good head control in upright position; puts weight on her legs in an upright position; brings both hands to mouth; and has begun to hold some objects placed in her hands. We are enjoying her so much and feel so blessed to have a healthy little girl! Below is a video of her supporting herself on her stomach.

In the last couple of weeks we made a quick trip home for one night to celebrate Mother's Day with Nana and also had a great visit with Grandmommy and Mama Lacey the weekend before to celebrate Mother's Day with them! Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of both of those events. :( But Nana did capture a couple of shots below! :)

For Mother's Day, Adam, as usual, outdid himself! He got up Mother's Day morning when Kathryn woke up and brought her to me dressed as Minnie Mouse (see picture below)! I received a letter from Kathryn and him explaining that we would take a weekend trip to Walt Disney World the end of October to celebrate both Mother's Day and our 5th Anniversary! I can't wait for the end of October! It should be so much fun!!!

8 Weeks Old!

Kathryn is now 8 weeks old (almost exactly 2 months)!!! In the past two weeks we have visited Ellijay for future "Aunt Katie's" wedding shower and spent a little extra time up there while Adam tried to get rid of a viral infection. While in Ellijay we made our rounds and visited Nana and Grandmommy at their schools, Papa at the church, and Aunt Kayann at her Law Office! Below are pictures of our visits.

We also have discovered a MAJOR cause of her eczema outbreak... TIDE detergent!!! We have switched Adam's and my detergent to Purex All and Clear. Any clothes that have TIDE on them cause her to start to break out again... Adam had a polo shirt on Sunday that we didn't remember to wash and her face started to breakout again after he had held her. If anyone uses Tide we will just have to ask them to keep a blanket between them and Kathryn to keep her from breaking out again. At least we know that is one of the causes and we can manage it! We also discovered that if I eat any dairy products it flares up too; so no milk, cream, ice cream, yogurt, etc for me right now! Small sacrifice to keep her healthy! :)

Below are a couple of videos of Kathryn's play time on her play mat and in her bouncy seat. She has discovered that if she kicks her legs while in her bouncy seat that it bounces and causes the toys above her to move.

Next week we go to the pediatrician again for her first round of vaccinations. :( I am NOT looking forward to that, but we will make it through it!

6 Weeks!

Kathryn is 6 weeks old today!!! It's hard to believe our precious little girl has been with us that long! She has grown so much... born at 6lbs 11oz and as of today, weights 9lbs 8oz! She is now able to:

1) push with her legs while holding her

2) hold her head up for long periods of time while holding her

3) hold her head up when she is on her tummy

4) smile

5) focus on her mobile (see video below)

6) sleep for a 4-5 hour stretch at night

7) hit/touch objects above her head on her play mat

She enjoys her play mat, swing, bouncy seat, mobile, and of course being held!

The picture below is a picture taken of Kathryn today. She is wearing one of her mommy's old dresses that she use to wear.


We made a visit to the pediatirician today due to a breakout on Kathryn's face. Dr. Ford, our pediatrician, says it is exzema and he told us to keep her face moisturized 4-6 times a day with vasaline or crisco... yes he said crisco, however I think we will stick with the vasaline at first! I can't quite bring myself to "grease" my baby girl with the same stuff you grease a pan that you are going to bake a cake in!!! Hopefully it should really clear up in about a week!

We are looking forward to our first road trip to Ellijay in the new mini-van. It will be our first trip without Daddy... just me, Kathryn, Walker, and the new mini-van! We will miss him, as he will be in on call Friday-Saturday mid-day and Sunday-Monday.

Kathryn Elizabeth Land was born on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 3:19pm! :) She weighed 6lbs 11oz and was 20in long. She has headfull of brown hair and has blue eyes. We are so thankful and blessed that everything went smoothly and that Kathryn is healthy and here! God has been so good to us and we can't wait to see what He does in and through our family!

3-23-2010 - Daddy's Princess outfit - Kathryn and Mommy visited Feagin Mill Middle - Mommy's school today. Everyone ooooohed and aaawwwed over her and talked about how beautiful she was and what a doll she is! :)
